The assigned tasks will be as following:

  1. Participate efficiently in designing and implementing the IWRM project activities
  2. Contribute to the preparation of the annual action plan
  3. Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
  4. Develop and implement a robust monitoring and evaluation framework for monitoring progress towards achievement of project targets
  5. Ensure the development and maintenance of a monitoring, evaluation and reporting systems for the project implementing partners by ensuring that they submit timely, regularly and structured reports
  6. Conduct data auditing and verification to assure internal consistency and validity of project activities monitoring data reported by implementing partners
  7. Facilitate review of progress on a quarterly basis; problem solving and development of remedial actions ensuring any disparity between planned and actual outputs are addressed
  8. Support the project management decision-making processes by availing evaluation findings, project results, and other relevant information acquired from M&E activities
  9. Support the local counterparts in planning, implementing and monitoring the Program’s activities
  10. Coordinate and support the communication and cooperation between AICS, local partners, and International Agencies involved in the Program
  11. Develop close working relationship with all project participants and key stakeholders; establish and maintain good working relations with all relevant stakeholders
  12. Assist in the coordination and in strengthening synergies with other interventions implemented, or formulated, by the AICS Addis Ababa Office or other Donors
  13. Represent AICS in meetings and events,
  14. Participate effectively in the institutional capacity development
  15. Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental regulations and standards
  16. Provide support to the AICS Addis Ababa office with regard to any other duty appropriately assigned by its Team leaders or Programme manager

Gross annual salary: € 30.375,38 (Euro Thirty thousands three hundreds and seventy-five 38/100)

Essential requirements:

  • Being at least 18 years old and be younger than the age required by local regulations for retirement at the time of signing the contract and for the duration thereof;

  • Being medically fit for employment;

  • Full enjoyment of political and civil rights;

  • Not having sustained, in the three-year period preceding the date of expiry of the present vacancy announcement, an insufficient performance assessment (“scarce” or “insufficient”) in the framework of employment contracts signed with AICS;

  • Not being subject to legal actions concerning the application of preventive measures, both in Italy and abroad;

  • Not having been dismissed, dispensed, declared lapsed or fired from employment in a Public Administration, both in Italy and abroad;

  • MSc. in hydrology, water engineering, hydrogeological science, environmental science, or similar; candidates presenting any other educational MSc shall be considered eligible if demonstrating 5 years of experience relevant to the position (ie. IWRM positions in the framework of development cooperation projects) in additional to the years of experience requited in the point 2.1.h; or BSc. in hydrology, water engineering, hydrogeological science, environmental science, or similar plus 3 years of relevant experience in IWRM; candidates presenting any other educational BSc shall be considered eligible if demonstrating 8 years of experience relevant to the position (ie. IWRM positions in the framework of development cooperation projects). All experience acquired in the point 2.1g are in addition to the years of experience required in the point 2.1.h;

  • Minimum ten (10) years of relevant experience out of which at least seven (7) years’ direct work as Integrated Water Resource Management expert in multilateral or bilateral funded development cooperation projects.

  • Minimum knowledge of the English language (C1 level) of the Common European Framework of Reference;

  • Proficient knowledge of the Amharic language (C2 level) of the Common European Framework of Reference;

  • Have good IT knowledge of MS Office and MS Outlook.

    Preferential requirements:

The following are considered as preferential requirements and will be evaluated for the purpose of assigning the score referred below:

  1. Education courses or professional certifications above the compulsory required, such as: Hydrogeology, Project management, M&E, Remote Sensing, or other relevant subjects;
  2. Experience in capacity building activities related to development project planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation;
  3. Additional proven operational experience in development cooperation projects, especially with governmental bodies (on top of the 10 years required in point 2.1h);
  4. Use of GIS, CAD, geospatial digital tools, database applications, PostgreSQL.
