UNIVERSITY COLLEGE DUBLIN (UCD): School Research Support Officer, School of Veterinary Medicine

Applications are invited for the temporary post of School Research Support Officer within UCD School of Veterinary Medicine.

The School wishes to build on progress to date with the appointment of a School Research Support Officer who will provide tailored support to assist researchers within the School to achieve their research ambitions. The role will complement and add to existing School research supports. This is an exciting, hands-on and delivery-focused role in which the Officer will be afforded significant responsibility to establish and manage research support services for researchers within the School. S/he is expected to be a self-starter, well organised and highly adaptive, and to develop a detailed understanding of relevant UCD infrastructure and processes and a familiarity with relevant funding environments. The Officer will develop relationships with multiple stakeholders and contribute to the network of research support available in other Schools in the UCD College of Health and Agricultural Sciences, and more broadly within the University.

The Officer will provide both pre- and post-award support. For the pre-award phase, the Officer will identify appropriate funding calls, and work directly with researchers in a tailored manner in support of the development of competitive research proposals. In particular, s/he will primarily provide input into non-scientific aspects of the grant application, relating to management (project management, resourcing, budget allocation) and impact. For the post-award phase, the Officer will facilitate initial negotiations to aid project mobilisation, including completion of required agreements (legal, data transfer, consortium etc). The Officer will also provide feedback to support strategic planning by the School Research Committee. In all aspects of this role, the Officer will prioritise those researchers within the School with limited research experience, including earlier career scientists and scientists working within a clinical setting.

95 Administrative Officer I2010 (0172X) Salary: €50,256 – €68,029 per annum.

Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines
