We’re looking for excellent, creative researchers with the talents to discover the brand new physics of interactions between topologically structured gentle and structured matter rising at nano- and picometre scales, with a view in direction of the event of disruptive light-enabled applied sciences – see “The Start of Picophotonics” [Optics & Photonics News, Sept. 2023].

You’ll be part of a serious Programme sponsored by the UK’s Engineering and Bodily Sciences Analysis Council – turning into a member of a broader interdisciplinary research group with pursuits starting from photonic metamaterials and toroidal electrodynamics to super-resolution imaging and optical nano-metrology – see www.nanophotonics.org.uk/niz/.

You’ll maintain a PhD* or equal qualification in Physics or one other topic related to the sphere of optics/photonics, and confirmed expertise in experimental optics/photonics research. Properly organised and pushed, you’ll reveal initiative and problem-solving expertise, and powerful powers of communication, alongside a collaborative method. Prior expertise in computational modelling, the appliance of machine learning, and improvement of exact optical experiments and instrumentation shall be advantageous.

Appointments shall be made on the stage of Analysis Fellow or Senior Analysis Fellow, relying on expertise. 

*Functions for Analysis Fellow positions shall be thought of from candidates who’re working in direction of or nearing completion of a related PhD qualification.  The title of Analysis Fellow shall be utilized upon profitable completion of the PhD.  Previous to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Analysis Assistant shall be given.

For Senior Analysis Fellow appointments, it’s important that you’ve got a number of years of postdoctoral expertise, encompassing project management and supervision of different research group members.
